I’m using Progdvb pro for a while. With my old computer under XP, I never had crashes compared with my new configuration under Vista.
My configuration :
• Intel QuadCore Q8200
• 4Gb Ram
• NVidia 9600 GT
• Hauppauge 4000 S/S2/T
• Windows Vista Sp1 home edition premium
• Hauppauge driver 2.122.26109.0
• BDA driver 1.56
• Progdvb 6.03.02 pro and before…
I’m connected to AtlanticBird 3 at 5°W with a strength signal
All that is sexy and theorical and completely in the state of the art but the result is a garbage. Progdvb crash randomly and frequently when seeing any program.
This is not true with other programs (MyTheater, KTV, WMC and WinTV delivered with the Hauppauge card).
Since v5, I download and install all versions available on the site. It seems that 5.16.x series works a little bit better but the 6 series is a bug no free series. No corrections to the primary functionality where made each release I download : WORK WITHOUT CRASHES.
I read all posts in the Progdvb’s forum, I applied all solutions provided by Prog. No plugins loaded, no modules loaded, blablabla.ax deleted for a while, audio processor not selected, …
Elecard drivers and ffdshow drivers for video and audio gave the same result…
I bought Progdvb because I like to use it, but under my old configuration under XP I never had problems like I have under Vista.
So what to do. Downgrade to XP -> No way. Change Progdvb to another software -> No way, I paid for it. This is not my job to correct a buggy program.
At the beginning, Progdvb was free of charge and it worked perfectly, but now I’m angry about the quality of each release. Try to read the forum and you will see that I’m not alone in this case.
In my old configuration with a S7131 hybrid satellite/TNT decoder, I could watch the two systems simultaneously. With my new Hauppauge 4000 trimode S/S2/T at 130 €, impossible… Incredible.
Watching a TVHD S2 program on 12674.00 H (reason that I bought the card) is simply impossible (not for my other HD decoder on the same dish).
So I think that correcting problems to EPG bugs for PIP, audio equalizer or skin selector is not the biggest problem you should correct. The main problem is that program must work correctly. The “nice” functionalities must be done after.
Thanks to correct, compile and publish this new version (You will save your time to respond to all users for the same buggy case) or please send me my money back .
