Dear sir,
I am trying to use the ProgDVB as a video server software. When I select the tranport stream mode of operation, will the ProgDVB stream out the video data from the TV tuner directly ? ie it will not attempt to modify the video data or it will encode the video data in ProgDVB default format ?
If the ProgDVB will not change the video data, then I am thinking to stream the analog TV with a MPEG2 hardware encoder. Then the analog TV data can be broadcasted over the LAN. Thanks.

I am not sure about broadcast analog TV to network. It is only if client ProgDVB also.

Sorry for the wording as I am new to the video streaming. Here is my situation :
Firstly,
-need to distribute analog TV signal in a LAN
-have bought the ProgDVB and trying to set up the video server
-use VLC at the client station
-use multicast setting
-fails to do that with the transcoding

Do you mean that if I use the ProgDVB as server and also client, I can stream and watch the video over the LAN ?

Secondly, I cannot do that HDTV to SDTV downscale with the trancoding in the ProgDVB. It seems that you have mentioned that HDTV to SDTV is not support in the current version. If I can get a HDTV with MPEG2 encoding card, will this help ? The aim is to multicast the TV over the LAN.

Current version of server not can broadcast stream in TS format. Only in mpeg.

1.If the transport stream operation mode is selected, will the ProgDVB modify the data received from the video source before sending them out to the clients ? eg the tuner card (analog or digital).
2.Can you confirm the exact mpeg format that the current version supports in transport streaming ? Mpeg2 ?

1. All transport? No. Trafic same like from source.
2. TS and PS. But server not support convertings PS->TS
