Last week i bought an nvidia 8800gtx and i noticed that the channels are not shown correctly.
Picture is stretched horizontally and so i can only see the left & center of the video . The right side is just out of the window(non existant).
The vertical scaling is correct
Also , I can't change brightness , contrast etc ... I move the slider and picture remains the same ... Screen goes black for 1 sec and then back again with the same colors ...
It also happens on all recorded videos i have in my hard drive .

This only occurs in hardware mode . In software mode the scaling is correct.

i think this depends on the driver for your graphics card...maybe Overlay settings...

This may depends on the 2.19(c) TT driver where in hardware mode also a Software codec is in use...a trick from the driver makers to make the card correct running in use with pci-e graphic cards...these settings (brightness , contrast etc) controlled by a software codec so you have to change there...

There are no controls to change the overlay settings in the latest forceware drivers . This is the first thing that i thinked but no luck ...

i don´t konw one...maybe the Problem woll gone when you try other forceware version...the last versions definitely have a overlay problem...i went back to 91.47

ProgDVB does not know about the crippled hardware mode when using the KS driver (TT software package 2.19c).

Hardware based controls for the PCscreen picture are used in HW mode, but those are worthless, if the driver causes codec use even then.

So it seems, you have just two chances in your pseudo HW mode, either change the codec properties (in SW mode or externally from another application that uses the same codec, f.e. the original application, or even mplayer2 when playing an mpg recording), or, as you already suspected, by tuning the graphics card driver settings for overlay, some way.

No idea for your graphics card, using ATI Radeon here. Tweaks for those are available, and even the original drivers support seperate overlay settings...

There is no option to move to older drivers as the 8800 is only supported from 91.XX and after .

I'll also try the 2.19 plain driver (No KS) and see what happens.

Up to last week i was using an Ati X1900XTX without problems . It's 100% Nvidia's fault . Everyone is complaining for the overlay problems . If you read on nvidia forums you'l see what i mean .

OK . Installed 2.19 drivers and adjusted the latency . Also changed mode to surface (as overlay can't resize the picture).
Now everything works (even the brightness) . Only disadvantage is that there is a delay when you resize the window (minimize-maximize) , but i can live with that .
The picture is pretty good (Not as in overlay mode) but no big deal .
