I've tried several codecs, demuxes and audio renderers, I have installed and uninstalled them, restarted and retried... my sound card drivers are up to date and I have not had any issues with any other multimedia software. I have also tried both x86 and x64 versions of ProgDVB. All channels I'm testing (6) are free terrestrial digital channels but the problem remains.
I seem to have (sort of) pinpointed the problem but not the solution.
ProgDVB does not detect correctly the TV channel's audio stream 99% of the time and defaults to "Stereo MPG" (why MPG?) instead of "Stereo AAC", this will happen using any audio codec, demux or audio renderer. This also means that 1% of the time it will play the sound correctly whenever it is detected/streamed as AAC and not MPG, when that happens there are no hiccups, no image freezes nor any other problem, simply perfect. Problem is that it only lasts until I change the channel or close ProgDVB.
And as I've stated before, using the example of ffdshow, the codec is being fed by ProgDVB an MP2 stream instead of an AAC stream. Obviously mine is an isolated case since most people don't have this problem. Unfortunately it makes it particularly unusable for me, I'll have to stick to VLC.
Thanks for the help anyway.
Re: Sound not playing 99% of the time
#18OK, I installed ProgDVB Pro v6.95.3 (x86) and recorded 2 excerpts from the same channel, one with sound and one without. In every case I used Prog demultiplexer, Prog audio renderer, and Microsoft DTV-DVD Audio Decoder codec. I did not touch anything after starting the 2 test recordings besides changing channels in order to lose audio for the second recording.Prog wrote:Can you record me 3-5 minutes of this channel?
Notes about recording WITH sound:
- OSD showed audio stream as "Stereo, AAC";
- Right-clicking the channel and selecting "Audio" would give me "Portuguese [AAC/LATM]" as the audio stream;
- Download link for test recording: https://mega.co.nz/#!OoonAawB!PKPVaSRfr ... POKBeLsfNA
Notes about recording WITHOUT sound:
- OSD showed audio stream as "Stereo, MPG";
- Right-clicking the channel and selecting "Audio" would give me "Portuguese" as the audio stream;
- Download link for test recording: https://mega.co.nz/#!W9o11BiC!JjQgD14dE ... -z1p7pBMpg
Another oddity: After pressing "Stop" to stop the recording of the excerpt WITHOUT sound, the TV channel's sound started playing. I tried this 10 times and twice I got sound just by starting/stopping a recording but not the other 8 times. Anyway, the recording also has MPEG audio when there is no sound and AAC when there is sound.
After doing the recordings:
1. I enabled logs;
2. Closed ProgDVB;
3. Cleared all logs from the "Logs" folder (a few times before getting sound);
4. Opened ProgDVB and the channel came up with sound, I waited 10 seconds;
5. Closed ProgDVB;
6. Opened ProgDVB and the channel came up without sound, I waited 10 seconds;
7. Closed ProgDVB and compressed all files in the "Logs" folder into the archive attached bellow.
