After using a couple of progdvb versions (from the 6.x series), I've found some strange characters displaying in the status bar (lower bar, where channel name an program title is displayed). I'm also finding similar problems when displaying subtitles/teletext.

When reading this forum, someone has said that installing other fonts on windows solved the problem. Is there a way to know what font or what codepage the channel is using, so I can install an appropiate font?

Last version I tested (6.04.06, USB-BDA AF9015 tv card, WinXPSP3, no plugins, fresh install), has this problem. I don't know how to post information about the channels I'm finding this problem, hope that this is enough:

Freq: 858Khz, SID:140, TID:13, NID:8916. Pids (PMT:300, PCR:301, Video:301, Teletext:302).

Maybe some captures could be useful?

That's impossible, as that frequency is in the AM radio band.

So what's this in reality, 858 MHz?
Cable (DVB-C) or terrestrial (DVB-T)?
Or what else?

BTW, the charset ProgDVB likes to have is Turkish, as that covers many of the other European charsets quite well.
A European XP would include this by default.
On older Windows versions, Turkish language support for the Internet Explorer also does the job.

I'm using the default xp that comes with a sony vaio. Should has the turkish font, but I'll try to force install and see... strange Still, it doesn't work. For example, in teletext, non ascii chars, (ie. Í, ú) are not shown.

Teletext is a different issue, as, by definition, it only allows to (automatically) select from inside of a receiver hardware pre-defined set of eight languages in total, due to language flag bits limitations.

This for, TV sets are made different between, for example, north and south-east Europe.

Means, any standard compatible TXT decoder, hard- or software, first has to preselect the language set to select from.

Charset limitations like the mentioned one may be a result of such a selection, if not suitable for the service in use.

On DVB and a computer, things get more complicated, because before getting onto your display, some more steps of chars translation are necessary, unicode and fonts related included...

Mine is wrong language, is there way to change that bottom line to Finnish, now it is Swedish.
Subtitles and teletext is ok. And EPG is ok.

Maybe user could select some options about encoding, font or language to help progdvb to select correctly how to display subtitles?

This is a screen capture with wrong encoding selected. Characters with non-ascii representation "¿" (opening question mark) appears as "`" (single quote), í (í) appears as "]" (closing square bracket) are not shown. Maybe I could help progdvb telling it that this is a spanish character subtitle?
