What do you advice to prevent windows directshow crashes in the future?

only install 1-3 mpeg-2 Video Codecs ...(e.g. included in Powerdvd,Windvd or DScaler 5 etc.)

1-2 good codecs are enough

re-installing windows and back-uping files takes so much time

Well i have re-installed windows and all updates but i'm still getting a black screen no video/audio.

When i run Elecard registrator there is nothing to register (see screenshot) is this maybe the problem and what should i do?
(While installing progDVB i have choosen the option to install a MPEG-2 Decoder.)




In progDVB when i want to select another codec there are two codecs available Elecard and Cyberlink. When i choose Cyberlink and i switch to a channel progDVB shows a error message and it closes (see screenshot).





I have another computer where Windows XP is installed (not all Windows Updates are applied) when i try run progDVB on this machine it works fine.

Is this maybe a problem caused by Windows Updates?
I suggest something with .NET Framework 2.0.
What can you say abaout this?

In progDVB Elecard MPEG-2 Decoder is available and when i want to register it its not visible...

I have found out that this is a driver problem. I had installed an update of the driver. and that caused all this. Now it works fine.

But when i try to register the elecard codec there is still nothing visible to register.

And when i'm recording from some channels the filesize grows too fast (this happens only with some channels) not all channels have this problem. any idea?

not really....normaly this depends on the resolution and bitrate of this channel...and should be ok ...

No...maybe ...progdvb is full of bugs...
