progdvb has encountered a problem [solved]

#1
Hello, and goodwill to everyone.I have finnally installed my skystar2 pvr,and using the dvbvewer that came with it,no problems, but i was disapointed because it didnt have the features of my standalone boxes.
I found prog dvb,and downloaded the free version, and i became very pleased,as i had now got signal strength indicators, and scanning for all transponders,[data as well as tv/radio],plus other features i have not tried yet.
Within 5 minutes of downloading progdvb i was watching tv on my computer.
Now for the problem, when i start progdvb,it works great,,but all of a sudden it will stop and a message appears saying progdvb has encountered a problem and needs to close, send error report to mcrosft.
Sometimes i can watch for half an hour no problems, and then i change to another free to air station, still no problems,,then after looking through a few other fta stations it will suddenly stop and want an error report sending,i can find no pattern to this behaviour.
I have 180cm dish connected straight to the skystar2[.3 universal lnb]
The dish is independantly motorised[actuator with 12volt supply]
my computer, amd 3400+/512 ddr mem/graphics card is part of motherboard.
I have installed the kb896626 patch, and also reinstalled everything.
still for some reason it will suddenly stop, usually when i deciede to start channel changing.
I really like the progdvb program, and am considering buying the upgraded program[if its compatible with my computer],Please any help would be wellcome.Oh yea,i am not using diseq,i set the dish using a fortec reciever, then i have a manual a/b switch,so the skystar is connected directly.
On my fortc,i get 90+quality/90+ strength, with the skystar this drops to 75.
I used to be an installer for sat/radio/uhf/vhf but now i am retired,i am pleased to be here on this site and maybe help other people with antenna installation problems. Please forgive me if i ramble on a bit,i am getting a bit old in the brain.See you later folks, and goodwill to everyone

Look in progdvb menu : Settings->Audio/Video->Direktshow...try the progdvb renderer or one of the vmr renderers (vmr 9 or vmr (needs windows xp))

Also if i may ask,is using skygrabber legal?

I´m sorry , but this here is progdvb support forum only ...so go for this to e.g. dvbn.happysat.org

fantastic

Thankyou so much silencer,i now have reliable channel zapping.
I tried the progdvb renderer and it works great.
Just out of interest,i tried the other suggestions[vmr9/vmr].
Vmr 9 caused the same problems, and vmr froze the program. So i will stay with the progdvb renderer.
If i may ask here?,can i use prog dvb to view the free to air stations that broadcast in mpeg 4.2.2?.
Also if i may ask,how do i load more than one channel list for one satellite,eg,i have my dish lined up on hotbird13e,and all channels scanned for,now i want to move my dish to 19east,and add the scanned channels from this satellite to the list,if this is possible,i can then move my dish to all recievable satellites[50 east/50west]and asign aparticular transponder frequency to each satellite, move the dish with my manual east west positioner, whilst watching the signal strength meter of progdvb,as soon as progdvb showed a signal,i would know i was lined up on the correct satellite, and thus know that i would be able to access all the other fta stations on that satellite.
Thanks again for your help silencer,i give my word i will send a donation this week.

Yes , should works afaik with the codec that comes with prodvb
Also if i may ask,how do i load more than one channel list for one satellite
no problem...in use favorite channel lists

e.g. load one list...make it to a list of the type ´favorite´

(see progdvb menu : channel list -> property)

then load the next ...make it to a list of the type ´favorite´

and so on...
Thanks again for your help silencer,i give my word i will send a donation this week.
I´m not the developer of progdvb...just a fan of this programm that is trying to help other people in my free time to use progdvb and run this forum ;)

Thanks again.

Thanks again, you are doing a first class job.I will try out your suggestions.
Ps,i`m still gonna send a donation, because i feel guilty using such a nice program for free.
I also have a lot to learn using digital devices.
