Skystar 1 CI dead tuner ?

#1
Hi,

I'm trying to get a Skystar 1 CI to work. I think the tuner or the LNB power may be dead. I've measured the dc voltage coming out of the F-connector and it is very low - I think it should be either 12-13volts or 17-18 volts ?

I tried ProgDVB 4.84.4 with it with 3 different drivers, uninstalling each time.

With the Technisat (v2.421) 2004 Skystar 1 CI WDM drivers and with the latest Twinhan (v2.432) WDM drivers, it says 'Skystar 1 CI over TT - Hard mode [card1] Device not started !

With no WDM driver and the Twinhan BDM driver, it says

Tuner space not founded !
{BDM} DTV-DVBS 878 Digital Tuner Filter
Device not started !

Is my tuner dead ?

´Skystar 1 CI over TT - Hard mode [card1] ´ is for technotrend premium cards or hauppauge nexus...you have a twinhan clone ...so select twinhan...

For this you need installed bda driver and maybe this :

save this text as bda.reg and doubleclick it...then choose BDA DVB-S device in progdvb

I have a Skystar 1 CI and I shouldn't select 'Skystar 1 CI' ???????

How much more confusing does it get ?

Thank you !

It appears that the card has a dead tuner, though. There is no power going to the LNB.

OK - I re-installed ProgDVB 4.84.4 and selected TwinHan.

Now it says

Device not started !
({WDM} TwinHan DVB-S)

Looking at the card photo gallery here

www.bttv-gallery.de (WARNING ! VERY LARGE PAGE !)

I can see that the card is visually the same as a TwinHan VP-1030C
(apart from the PCB colour - TwinHan is blue, Skystar 1 CI is green)

The ProgDVB Azurewave/TwinHan support list skips from 1027 to 1034 - missing out the 1030 ("VP-1027, VP-1034, VP-1041")

Has ProgDVB ever supported TwinHan 1030C & clones ?
