Though I don't have much time these days, I've started testing your latest version here. I'm trying to go systematical and will keep it as precise and easy as possible.


Conditions as usual:
Win98SE, P III 800MHz @ i440BX
Nexus 2.2 (true) HW mode, driver 2.19h (non-KS)
Audio controls on DVB hardware
'receive mpeg2 from SS1' disabled
No 3rd party plugins


- new EPG Module only lists Now/Next
Still wrong data showing on all german (Astra 19.2) stations, just meaningless squares and question marks, structure points to wrong stream source...
Patched the wrong switch, it seems...
Tried the EPG module from 4.84.1w9x instead, no data shown at all.

- playback slider function is working again
But on filwe play, the tuner audio is not muted. Even the mute function only works for the file audio, the TV audio continues.

- playback does not work over the Nexus hardware TV out, there the tuner audio and video keeps active.

- PVA recordings aren't played anymore

- recording to PVA is not possible anymore, option is removed, TS introduced instead. But SS1 won't record TS. If selected, MPG is done instead.
English language file issue or a function change by purpose???

- on file play STOP does not work, file video disappears but file audio plays on. No tuner video after file play.

- on playback, the horizontal scaling is wrong, instead of 720 pixel it seems to scale to 768, adding black bars on the sides at (tue) 4:3 material and screen. I'm running 1280x960 (square pixels) here, on a 20" CRT.
Playback scaling error occurs both in window mode and full screen.
Software scaling option does not chamge this.

- most of my (new or old) recordings, that don't play on any version after 4.75w9x, make 4.86.5w9x crash badly, overlay is lost until system reboot.
I can't find a system behind that, perhaps it's a file header issue, as known from most ProgDVB .mpg recirdings for quite some time now...

- on first run of this version, I had to change to surface and back to overlay, to get an overlay picture. Radeon 7200/VE here, primary screen used.

Back to 4.75w9x for playback and 4.84.1w9x else...

Did not find the time to test on Win2k yet.

- scanner issues:
After a full scan of Astra 19.2E, the german stations RTL Television, RTL2, ZDF DOKU, ZDF INFO and ZDF THEATERKANAL were falsely declared as scrambled, and the provider for those is set to CSAT, which is both completely wrong, of course. So this is a database error.
When scanning the RTL transponder alone, RTL Television and RTL2 turn to noname SID...
But the provider is scanned correctly as RTL World then.
Same with update from channel properties, provider correct, not scrambled, but no name found.

(+) EPG back to complete list, but still completely wrong data displayed on all german stations

- overlay does not work on ProgDVB start, each time I have to enter device options and toggle 'software scaling', to get overlay picture

- no HW mode playback at all, it uses ActiveMovie instead, and that is not closed after any malfunction. Most recordings make ProgDVB crash if played

- other issues continue as mentioned above

Once more, back to 4.84.1w9x and 4.75w9x

no changes found except of one:
Recordings don't crash ProgDVB 4.87.3 at playback anymore, instead many of those just freeze on play.
Still the file play does not stop with Stop button or if a channel selected, though the play button comes out. Trying to continue play with another file crashes ProgDVB by kernel32.

This is just avery small progress, but still this version is not suitable for daily use.

Back to 4.75 and 4.84,1 again...

Conditions as above, but now RADEON 9250 instead of i945G onboard VGA.

Small additions to recent findings:

Not just Overly fails to start at ProgDVB start, but Surface as well.
Always have to access device options, to get a TV picture on the PC screen.

Theatre mode dual head overlay of my Radeon does not work with Engine2. With 4.84.1w9x it's working fine, also with other players and DVB applications.

All other issues still exist, like
- no HW TV out picture at playback
- EPG still not working at german stations
- no more PVA recording or playback
- playback is framed and squeezed into an equivalent of ~ 768x576, leaving black borders on both sides. My screen and resolution are true 4:3.
- many .mpg recordings make ProgDVB freeze after some seconds with no error message, often freezing the machine completely. This happens with a variety of old recordings, but with some I've just made with 4.88w9x it's exactly the same.
Often that playback freeze causes the audio to drop into an endless loop, that seems to be about one GOP long.This seems to depend on (some german) stations, but I cannot find any system behind this. All sources have 720x576, none has AC3, none has 2nd audio, all have a normal data rate. But they might perhaps differ in uplink mux priority...

Once more, back to 4.84.1w9x for TV and 4.75w9x for playback

New Engine 2.0 not support playback files over Nexus hardware. Only directshow. PVA not supportted also. I am not like too many formats and too many problems.
All other functions must work.

PS: What problem with EPG? Please more details on email.

That is bad, because I have bought this expensive hardware, to use it instead of a VHS video recorder, on my TV in the first place.
And (for SD PAL50i) it's hardware TV out is a lot better than the usual VGA card TV out.
Being a TV mechanic, I am even frequently running true digital test charts over it, for TV repair and adjustment, at home.

Regarding EPG, you have mail.

Exactly the same issues.

BTW, a suitable station for EPG checking is DW TV on Astra 19.2, as it has both german and english transmissions, included with the same EPG.

And over here I'm not getting any useful data for the german shedule, but all english transmissions do have full details.
One station, one EPG, but all entries of one language missing in the tables.
Export table results in copies of the duration instead of the capture, for all the german parts.

This exceeds my level of imagination...

bugreport:

ss1[hardwaremode] + win98se + version 4.88.7

when i change from a 4:3 format channel to a 16:9 one or the channel itself changes its format, progdvb locks to 4:3.

to turn back to anamorphic display, you have to "okay" e.g. the device options.

version 4.84.1 did always automatically adapt. can't say with which version this went wrong.

Letterbox frame does not adapt to new aspect ratio correctly on a channel change.
Switched from a 16:9 to a 4:3 transmission, a third of the upper part is getting cropped.
Switching to fullscreen (and back) fixes this.

Another new issue:
No picture at all on playback in HW mode.
Sound is OK (on the same files, that do play up to 4.88.3w9x).

All other issues still exist, except of the EPG (which is solved).

Did not yet find enough time, to test 4.88.4 - ~.6 w9x
Perhaps this will follow through the next couple of days.

Cannot fight spammers and test software at the same time...

We still need some software updates or patches for this board, hide member list and profiles from guests, disable IMG tag and more.
This is absolutely urgent!
Continuously cleaning up needs more time than I do really have available.
